Wednesdays for Wyatt

Here we go! Our second Wednesday for Wyatt! It’s quite simple to participate. All you have to do is copy and paste this post on your blog, and come back here to link up with MckLinky! Once you do that, your all set to win a great giveaway. Kristi, on of the dear women who follow my family's story has generously donated some handmade buckeye's jewelry. Thank you Kristi!

Over the last week we have gotten 123 new signatures! Over 100 of those we got last Wednesday alone. And we had 34 wonderful bloggers link up... I can't wait to see how much Wednesdays for Wyatt will grow this week!

For those of you who are not familiar with my family and what we are trying to achieve, here’s a brief run down...

Our son Wyatt was diagnosed with a fatal condition at our 18 week ultrasound, but chose to carry him to term. We waited to meet our son with love, all the time praying we would get to see him alive.

On June 1, 2009, Wyatt made his way into the world by c-section. To our amazement he had a faint heartbeat and was breathing! He died two minutes later, but I’ve clung to the two minutes my son and I breathed the same air since his passing.

Upon calling to get a copy of Wyatt’s birth certificate, I found out he was listed as a stillborn. You would assume it was a mistake (like I did), but there was no mistake. According to the definition of live birth in Tennessee my son was not “alive enough” to be deemed a live born baby. His two minutes of life has gone unrecognized by my state, and I intend to change this piece of legislation so I can solidify the validity of my son’s short life.

Wednesdays for Wyatt was created to help spread awareness for a law that needs to be changed, as well as to generate more traffic to my petition. So if you’re reading this, thanks for taking the time to help our family!

Thanks for your help with this!

Meet Blaylock

I know, weird title right? Well, Blay named his finished pumpkin last night, Blaylock. When I finished carving it for him, and put a candle in it, we asked him what he wanted to name his pumpkin and he said Blaylock! So, that is what we named him.

Blay was fussy after school yesterday but I think maybe it was because he didn't get his nap out or something. He was rubbing his eyes and and such so I think he was just really sleepy. He was in a good mood when he and John picked me up from the doctor so who knows what happened. Probably me...but what can I say!

Here are some pictures of our completed Blaylock for you to enjoy!

I had planned on dressing Blay up in a Korean pajama outfit and hoping he would wear the little cotton Korean mask that they wear over there. I have yet to try it on him but I have to do that and I am going to do it tonight. I hope it fits but if not, do any of you have any cute, quick suggestions, for him and for me?

Beginning of Pumpkin

Well, last night didn't go all as I had exactly planned but that happens a lot now a days. It's part of life and I can't controll every little minute of it.

To start with, Blay just completely dismissed me at daycare yesterday. When John and I got there, I spoke to him with the other kids and he just took off running, yelling 'Daddy' with his arms outstretched and went straight past me! I couldn't believe it! Needless to say, my feelings were hurt from my little man but he doesn't understand that. He wanted me after we got home so John had to take him outside so I could at least start dinner.

After we finished a great dinner, that didn't bother my belly, John and Blay went back outside so I could clean the kitchen up. Once that was done, I headed outside with my men so we could work on the pumpkin, and keep Blay from eating the worms and granddaddy long legs he kept finding. He calls spaghetti worms so...you get the picture!

We didn't get the pumpkin completely carved last night, but we did get the guts out of it so we can get going on the carving tonight. Blay has picked out a face from the carving book I bought last year. I would like to do a couple different ones but we only have one pumpkin....

Here are some pictures of us working on the pumpkin last night.

And, as the picture shows, I ended up doing most of the pumpkin gutting...Blay just wanted to see the seeds. Kai wanted in on some of the action too!

Over the Weekend

We didn't do a lot this weekend, mainly because I had another stomach 'attack' early Saturday morning that but me back on the BRAT/soft foods diet. This one wasn't as bad but still dibilitated me some. So when I go to the doctor for my physical tomorrow, I'm going to ask about it again. Hpefully, it's nothing major!!!

Since I was down and out on Satuday, I couldn't go do my sale/bargain shopping but John took Blay out for daddy/son time. Their first stop was at Lowe's. Every month they have a workshop just for kids and the kids make things. Last month it was a fire truck. Saturday, they made a Frankenstein Magic Trick. Here are a couple pictures of Blay on Saturday.

After Lowe's, they did some WalMart shopping for a few things where Blay acquired a newer, bigger backhoe. This is added to his collection which is rapidly growing. I'd say he has about 10 now. I've never seen a kid so obsessed with one particular toy! After WalMart, they stopped and got a pumpkin. The pumpkiin is still awaiting our carving, which we are going to try and do tonight.

Yesterday John and Blay when to church while I rested some more. I got enough energy to finish the laundry and do a little cleaning. Blay and I spent the day in the house since I didn't get to see him much on Saturday.

Daycare is going great for him. He goes in now without a problem and I think he's even acquired a little girlfriend. He said her name this morning when we got there with a smile! Young love.....

Good deal, I think...

Okay, so after I wrote yesterday that Blay is awful in the afternoons, he wasn't. In fact, yesterday was the best afternoon we have had with Blay since he has started daycare. I was very happy about it.

He didn't eat dinner very well but I found out the main cause why this morning when we dropped him off at daycare. He had 3 servings of spaghetti for lunch!!! And, still ate his afternoon snack. So much for trying to make the kid eat. He's getting a little belly on him now and it's soo cute. He needed to gain a little weight though so I'm not going to complain.

One good thing today, he went in this morning and gave John and myself both a hug and kiss and told us bye. Thanks to Ms. Stacie for being able to help us get his truck from him before we left. It would of been disasterous if one of us would of had to do it. He gave it up willing for her!! The joys of parenting! :o)

Okay, so two good things so far today. I just finished shopping a little on lunch at the JBF consignment sale in East Ridge. Great that I work two minutes from there right now! I got some really cute things for Blay at great prices. There was a special 25% off some items today and I just happened to pick up things he needed that were an additional 25% off. HOw great was that? Here's a quick run down:

J Khaki Red Cableknit Sweater $4.50 (was 6.00)
Cherokee tan Basketball Shirt $1.50 (was 2.00)
Levi's Navy Corduroy Pants $3.00 (was 4.00)
Voit Blue Windsuit $3.75 (was 5.00)
Kid Connection fleece hoodie w/ truck $3.00 (was 4.00)
Baby Gap orange/navy striped thermal shirt $2.25 (was 3.00)

Overall, I don't think that was such a bad trip! He still needs a few more things but they just didn't have them. I will just have to keep looking.

I know, I know

It's been a while and just when I was starting to get 'better'. If you even want to call it that. We have been very, very busy lately, especially since I have returned back to work. Talk about a drastic change in our household.

I get up at 530, get ready, Blay gets up at 615 and eats, we go to work and school, come home, eat dinner, play for about 1 - 1/12 hours, Blay takes a bath and he is in bed by 830. Then I start preparing for the next day whether it be our dinner for the next night, my lunch, etc. or I clean a little bit. All the time with Blay is precious.

Blay is coping well with daycare. The first two weeks were a little rough on all of us because he would wake up soon after I would and not go back to sleep. He has adjusted better this week and we've actually had to wake him up. He is also going into school a lot better now. He isn't clinging and crying for one of us. He goes straight for the teacher or the toys, usually a loader or bulldozer.

He hasn't adjusted well to the afternoon yet because he is starving by the time we get him in the afternoon. That's one of the reasons I try to have dinner prepped or something quick and easy laid out to make so I can feed the little guy. He's getting better but some days are worse than others. Wednesdays are the hard days because he doesn't go home until after we get out of church so he goes to bed about an hour or so later.

We went to Kingsport not to long ago to go see Pops. We hadn't seen him since he and Nanaw returned from Korea, for good!! Yea!!! He is 'retired' but not officially until sometime in November. We are all so proud of the almost 40 years he's spent in our country's military. The same weekend, we also went to a family reunion in VA. We had a good time, but it was really cold and windy that day.

Pops and Nanaw paid us a visit last weekend. Pops had never seen our new house so they decided to come down and spent a couple days. We all had a good time together.

Well, I need to go now, I need to run to CVS and spend my ECB's before they expire today. That's just free money I can't let go to waste!!!

Poo news!!!!

I guess I could say with poo...yep, poo. Blay went poo in the potty on Sept 25th for the first time. He was so excited! He got to flush and everything! For a reward, he got some M&M's. He was soo excited, he went back and did it again a few minutes later! More M&M's for a reward. Those are his favorite so that's what I use to coax him. What helped? I believe the 'Once Upon a Potty for Him' video I purchased at Toys R Us that day. In the second round of watching it, he made poo!!!! Way for videos.

Has he done it since? Yes, once, while we were on vacation in Florida. He made small poo but all the same, it was poo, in the potty. He was very, very excited to of done it, especially on vacation! He was spoiled all week so there really wasn't much to give him when he did that because he had already had everything.

We had a good time in Hollywood, FL. Blay absolutely loved going and his favorite part was the swimming pool. We went to the beach the first day but he did not want anything to do with it. He wanted to go back to his pool. So we did and he turned into my little fish. I worked with him Monday-Wednesday trying to teach him different things about swimming. He can't swim but I got him started on some small things like jumping, kicking his feet, and blowing bubbles with his nose on top of the water.

John was there for a conference with work so Blay and I spent the mornings in the pool, had lunch then naps, and if possible, went back to the pool. He was crazy about it. We drove around some in the evenings towards Miami and South Beach and then up to Fort Lauderdale.

Since then, I got sick, Blay started daycare, and then I got to start my new job. So far so good for all of us. We are still trying to adjust, Blay more than anyone. I don't know if he likes his new wake up time but I know he likes his new bedtime. He's out like a light in just a few minutes. He'll eventually get the hang of it, I hope.

I will post some pictures, and a cute video of my dancing Blay soon. I also will update the Picasa site soon with pictures from over the summer, etc.
