Walking

If you haven't checked out the updated milestones yet, I have attached this video for you. Some of you have seen Blay walk and some have not. I am going to get a better video of him today. This was the best I could do yesterday with the camera going dead. I hope you all enjoy. There's not much else to report today that is different from yesterday.

Car Ride

As you can see the BIG smile on his face. We got this little car for Blay for his birthday. It was an early gift but one of his little girlfriends from church has one and he kept 'taking' hers at the ballfield so we got him his own. He absolutly loves it and cries when you take him out of it.

This was taken Sunday. John, Kai, and myself were outside with Blay a good part of the day between church services and most of it was spent with Blay playing or riding with his car. The funny part is that he really thinks he drives when he's going. Here's a video to show you how much he likes it....even in the rain....

I told you. He loves this car...

He is pretty much walking all the time now. He'll crawl to get to something to stand up so he can start walking. While he is still climbing up and down the stairs, that hasn't been as much now that he's figured out how to walk around everywhere. He's doing really well.

He also said a new word on Tuesday. He said "ove ou". That stands for I love you. I gave him a kiss on his forehead and gave him a hug and told him I loved him while he was sitting in my lap and he said it back. I admit, I got a little teary eyed. I couldn't help it. We're trying to get him to say it for his daddy but no luck yet. Ma-maw Judy did hear it though.

Here is a picture of Kai and Blay. I've never meet a dog like Kai who will let kids climb on them, pull her hair, and stick hands in her mouth. She just sits there...such a good doggie!!!

PS - The answer to the quiz for Blay's nickname from his daddy is Turkey.... Congrats to those who guessed it correctly.

New Food!!!

Blay is sleeping. He went to sleep at 730 to wake an hour later and is now back to sleep. He only had 1 good nap today so that is the reason for his early bedtime. His second nap was about 20 minutes.

Blay had mini ravoli and meatballs for dinner tonight. As you can tell, he really liked it. You can also see all four of his teeth in this picture.

The next picture is him looking like his daddy with his tongue sticking out. Come to find out, the Duncan men stick their tongue out when they are concentrating or busy. In this case, Blay was busy feeding his face....

Blay also had adult peaches and cream oatmeal today. That didn't go as well. It'll take some getting used to. H e's used to the baby oatmeal. I think it is more the texture than the taste. He also had some melba toast. He ate a lot of it. I think he still likes the hard foods for his teeth.
Blay is now on just whole milk!!! Going back and forth between milk and formula was not settling well with him so I changed it all.
We are looking forward to John being home tomorrow night. We'll be ate church but John will be waiting when we get home. I'm excited!!!

Growing up

Well, Blay now officially has 4 teeth and they are coming in good. He is also taking steps all the time. The most he's still taken at one time is 4 or 5. He's getting a little more confident though. I give him a couple weeks before he's really walking.

We got to talk to Pops and Nanaw yesterday in Korea and see them. That is John's dad and step mom. John's dad is stationed there for a year. Blay didn't know what to think seeing his Pops on the computer screen. He kept touching the screen trying to touch Pops. They got to see his teeth and him take a couple steps.

It's really neat to talk to someone and see them from 8 K miles away. I've never got to do anything like that because I'm not that technologic advanced but Iu'm getting better.

Blay is sleeping good. I just wish his naps were how they used to be. He'll fight them and then when he does go down, it's just for an hour. I guess that is better than no nap at all though. I've had those days and he is a cranky little boy when he doesn't get his sleep.

His drinking whole milk has increased. He's now up to two bottles a day. He'll drink it straight from the fridge too. I'm still working on getting him to drink from a sippy cup. He doesn't know what to do with it just yet. That's the last feat I have to accomplish.

I hope you all have a good day and don't forget to vote for Blay's nickname from John!!! Can you figure out which one it is?

Stepping

Well, he did it. Tuesday night when we came home from Kingsport, Blay was playing on the back porch and took his first two steps. Yesterday, he took 4. That's the most so far, by himself. He'll take the big plastic animal cracker container and push it around the kitchen, dining room, and living room a lot. He likes doing that and his getting his walking practice that way.

Today, he's only taken two steps but we'll get there eventually. I don't know if I am looking forward to it or am dreading it. It's mixed feelings because it's another sign that he is just growing up. John is out of town so he's missing these steps but he'll see them when he comes home.

I've got Blay laying down right now for a nap and he's fighting it badly. I don't know why he's fighting it today. He woke up at 2 am and 645 am ready to eat. I think trying to wean him onto whole milk is messing him up. I don't know if it just doesn't last or what. He is pooping a lot more drinking the whole milk than he did when he was just on formula. He's just on one whole milk bottle a day right now. We'll increase it to two next week. By the time he's a year old, he'll be completely off formula!!! Yahoo!!! There's a money saver!

Well, someone won't cooperate and go to sleep so I'll have to cut this short.

PS - He has 3 teeth now!!!

End of Our Journey

Well, the time has come for us to start packing up and head home. We'll leave Kingsport, TN tomorrow around noon time when John gets off of work. We came here on Saturday because John had to work here today and tomorrow. John is from Kingsport, TN so we came up a few days early to spend some time with his family.

The trip up was great. Blay slept most of the way which is how I had planned it. Leave around nap time and he'll sleep almost the entire way and I was right. He's not had any trouble sleeping or napping while here other than last night. He took a late nap (830) for about 15 minutes and that messed him up going to be last night. He didn't go to sleep until 1015 - 1030 or so and was up at 4 am to eat. The hour of playing after his last bottle caused this. Then he was up at 645 ready to go. I was delirious.

We went to church on Sunday and grilled out Sunday night with the family. Blay got to spend some time with his cousins, Haven and Cade. Once they quit poking, pulling, and screaming over him, he calmed down enough to play with them some. They love him to death and were very excited to see him. They drove my brother in law crazy yesterday waiting to see him.

I left him with my mother in law and father in law this afternoon to get a little time for myself! SHOPPING!!! I enjoyed it. John and I grabbed a quick bite in between my shopping ventures before he set off to help his brother with his house. Good luck finishing Jay!!!

Talk to you all later!!!

PS - The answer to the snack poll came in third place. Blay's favorite snack is ice cream!!! We're going to go eat some now with some cobbler!

Even more sleep for a long day

Well, to start off, Blay slept the longest he's ever sleep last night. He went to bed at 7 pm and woke up about 730 am this morning. He has never slept for that long without waking up at some point for food or comfort. He only had one nap yesterday so that may be part of it. Needless to say, he was in a good mood until nap time.

Today at 930 he went to the doctor because he's been so fussy and pulling at his ear (from teething now I know for sure) but mainly because he cropped up another rash. This time two different rashes on different ends of his little body. He was diagnosed with an intraviral virus. It's a mix of viral infections like Hand, Foot, Mouth; Fifth Disease, and a few others but there is way to find out what all he has. There is nothing they can do for him with these kinds of viruses. He is definately teething so I get both of these together. The doctor said when either the virus disappears or the teeth pop through, he'll feel better. Either way, it could be up to two more weeks!!! Lord, I need more patience please.

He's only had one nap today and he just went to bed. He may be getting to the point of just one nap a day and a longer sleep period at night. Yah for all of us! It'll be good for him and for me. It will also help me get him on a better schedule, especially since I am trying to plan his birthday party. That is only six weeks away!!!! The big number 1!

He did eat lunch and dinner today so I know he is feeling a little better. Just pray tat the teeth will come through and that the virus will quickly disappear!!!

Lot's of sleep

Well, Blay woke up from a nap this morning crying and crying. I could not get him to calm down so we went for a car ride. That was at 1145. Guess what?? He is still asleep in the car in the garage. I will not wake this sleeping baby. Not right now.

I called the doctor today to see if they thought it was in fact him teething but to keep a close eye on him and his ear and fevers. They come and go and the ear rubbing comes and goes. If his fever creeps up again and he continues to rub on his ears, then I have to take him in to have his ears checked. They said this could go on until both top teeth break through. Only 1 of them is almost through.... help ....

Blay was excited after he woke up the first time this morning. He got another package in the mail from Nan-naw and Pops. He got a pillow turtle from Hawaii, a flower lei band for his head, and a Hawaii outfit. Mom and dad got some good Kona coffee. I can't wait to open it up!

The pictures show Blay playing with his turtle from
Nan-naw and Pops and the other picture is him
with spiked hair! It's it adorable?!?!?!

A better day

Today has been a better day for Blay and me. He woke up in a good mood and thus far as taken two naps. He will take another one before or during dinner today. He is still cutting his top two teeth but they are not bothering him as much today, or so it seems.

The neighbor girl, Kirby, came over to see him and he had a good time playing with her. He's not played a lot in the last few days so to see him playing and laughing was such a relief. I hope he stays in a happy mood and that the two teeth will come on in without much incident.

He slept all night last night without waking for the teeth. I did have his teething tablets laid out ready to go just in case so I wouldn't have to fumble with getting them out at 2 am. I think between not napping good yesterday, playing some, and going to two of John's ball games yesterday he was wiped out last night.

We are going to another ball game for John tonight. He is playing make up games from some of the rains we've been having here. I've made all mine up and already played the tournament. We didn't make it past the second round but Blay was there to support me the whole time and now we are going to support his daddy.

Well, off to try to get him to eat. Good news, he ate a jar of fruit this morning!!! He's not been eating food for a few days either!
