Mary, Mary, quite contrary....

How does your garden grow??  I don't know but it is growing like a weed, literally.

So I did it. I spent about 2 hours on Saturday and 2 hours on Sunday canning tomatoes, for the first time ever.  With our garden growing graciously out of control, I had to do something with the 30+ tomatoes we've accumulated in the last 3 or 4 days.  With these tomatoes, I canned 10 1/2 jars of 'stewed' tomatoes. These tomatoes are great when mixed in with some cooked elbow macaroni! Yum! Macaroni and Tomatoes......

So I didn't spend the whole weekend doing this but it did take me some time on Saturday since it was the first time I have attempted to do it. We shall see next weekend how well my canning came out with the tomatoes, especially since the Apple Butter last year works better over vanilla bean ice cream.  But it is still really yummy over warm, fresh biscuits too.  :)

Our garden.  What can I say about it other than I think I bit off more than I could chew for the first year of ever having a true garden.  We have soo much produce! And it's still producing. I don't know how much we have given away much less ate....  It's been a little overwhelming but I do enjoy it. I enjoy the 'fruits' of the labor we have made for ourselves this year.

Yesterday, I made for us soup beans, cabbage, tomatoes, squash and zucchini, okra, and cornbread. Everything I made was from the garden expect for the bean and the cornbread. John was overly excited when he sat down to eat the 'meatless' country dinner.  Especially since my cornbread held almost perfectly together. There was a little tear in the top but it was sooo delicious....

Blay slept while John and I ate. While this wasn't our intention, it just happened he went to sleep when we made him sit on his bed for a time out. When John went back in to talk with him, he was snoozing, so we let him snooze. Poor little guy had a long weekend with late nights. Albeit, he had fun during his long and late weekend.  In fact, his weekend has continued in to today as he and his daddy are out and about for a Daddy Blay day with Cars 2 on the agenda.  We shall see how things are when I get home. :)  Though, Blay is usually really good for his daddy.

I hope I can continue the trend of blogging more than once every two months. My agenda for next week (now that my blog is changed, one color, and more functional) is to try to figure out how to link to Facebook and to upload pictures to my home computer as well as to Picasa.  In case you can't find Picasa now, it is located below the postings.

I hope you find the 'new' blog more readable and functional.  I am open to any and all criticisms though, so please, criticize away.

Poked enough

uSo I have decided I have been 'poked' enough by some certain someone.  :)  I figured after the second 'poke' I should post something right. :)  I mean, she just had her second child and can still play our scrabble games, post pictures, and blog so I should be able to do that right!?

First, another apology for not updating more frequently for those of you who do read. :)  The last couple of months have been crazy and that is NO exaggeration.  We have been in a non-stop race it seems like since T-Ball started. I thought after T-Ball ended we would have a little more 'free' time (is there really such a thing).  However; we have been duped. It's been non-stop.  I only hope things can calm down, even if brieftly before fall T-Ball starts up.  If you don't believe our schedules just take a look at this!

This was our family schedule just for last week:

Sunday: Church, Lunch at El Metate, Start of VBS, and John leaving for Nashville
Monday: John Nashville, Church VBS
Tuesday: John Nashville, Pampered Chef Party
Wednesday: John Nashville, Church VBS
Thursday: John and I in Nashville
Friday: Home from Nashville; Walmart trip for Saturday; then to pick up a sick little boy
Saturday: Breakfast; Play time with Blay; Baby shower; Store; Going away party

Shew! Just reading this makes me tired much less actually doing all these things.  Although, I am not going to complain. I had a blast with famly and friends and even got some awesome and free Pampered Chef stuff.   I like be stressed under pressure! I feel I work my best when I am that way.

So this week has been calmer. Just one party this weekend. :) And it is not at our home, which is even better.

And just in case you were wondering, the little guy is better, just dealing with a cough. That makes for a happy mommy.  Now, to stop the potty regression and the attitude!!!

Love you all!!!

P.S. - Should I just make the back drop one big pretty picture and not the colums?

Caught off Guard

It did not dawn on my until last night, while at Blay's pre-school graduation program (no he was not graduating, only performing with his 'class') that I am only a year or two away from him going to KINDERGARTEN!!!!  Let's just say, I am NOT ready for this.

I know he's growing up and all but really? This soon? This fast? Why can't time just slow down a little? At times I think having another child while felp me with him when it comes to big milestones like Kindergarten but it won't. I will just have another child to tell time to 'stop' with.  My baby boy is no longer a baby and this makes me sad.

He talks, walks, and interacts like a little man, not like a baby boy.  Last night sitting there, watching the program, my heart was already aching thinking of what the future held with him growing up. Thinking of the many milestones he has accomplished and those he has yet to accomplish.  I know it is a part of life but for a Mom, I think it is one of the hardest parts of life. Watching your 'baby' grow. It's so bittersweet.

On another note, only Blay and his best friend Wesley from their class are the only ones who showed up last night for their part in the program. They did the best duet (and Blay a couple solos)!!!!  They sang Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Jingle Bells. I know your thinking "Christmas Songs in May"?  But, the program was about the seasons of the graduating Pre-K classes year at school so each group (3 years up) had different seasons to sing about! They were great.

When I get the pictures uploaded, I will post a few here for you.

Have a Happy Friday and a Good LLLOOOONNNNNGGGGG WEEKEND!

Love to all-

I am HORRIBLE!!!!

I did NOT realize it had been more than one month, almost two, since I have made a good post on here!!! Wow!!! Someone knock me up side the head sometime before I go this long (Jill).  :)

I do have some new pictures I will upload to Picasa. I am doing better about uploading photos to there at least!

There is not a whole lot to report. We just got back from a great trip to Gatlinburg for Mother's Day weekend. We spent two days at Dollywood. Blay spent 3 days there!  John and I went shopping Sunday while the in-laws took Blay to Dollywood. There is only so much an adult can do there for 2 days without getting bored, much less 3!

We are also still very much in T-Ball mode. While we did take a much needed break from T-ball and everything else last week, we are back in full swing as of last night. Blay is fielding and hitting much better.  We are going to have to work with him a little more though. John has started trying to see how he will hit right handed.  Hey, the pros switch hit don't they?  :)

Blay is also doing much better in school. The compliment we received this am was that he is a very polite boy. That makes my heart so proud! I work hard with manners daily.  Now, if I could just get his attitude to go with his contant manners I would be even more happy!

Blay is extremely happy at the moment. His daddy bought him an Army Diesel truck.  Not only is my child obsessed with anything army and truck related, he is very obssessed with diesels!  I do not know where he has become so obssessed with diesels but EVERYTHING is a diesel.

Anytime we leave the house now, he wants to ride in the truck, not the 'special' car or mommy's car but the truck. I'll have to take a picture to show you all the 'truck' that is now his.

Well, I need to get back to work but I wanted to do a quick update for those who do actually read the blog. Maybe I don't write more because one other person besides me are the only ones who read it?

Love to all who take the time to read! God Bless!
